How Is The Net Worth Of 50 Cent $40 Million?

Have you ever wondered what the net worth of 50 Cent is? Well, the American rapper is a living icon and worth a fortune. He rose to prominence in the early 2000s, with his album Get Rich or Die Tryin. As of June 2022, 50 Cent has a net worth of $40 million. This post will dive into how he achieved success.

Early Life

Jackson was born July 6, 1975, in New York City. He was raised in the South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens.

His mother, Sabrina, was a drug dealer and tragically died in a fire when Jackson was young. His father wasn’t in the picture, and his grandmother raised him.

He would often box in a local boxing gym growing up, and he enjoyed it. Despite having a strong academic performance, he became involved in the drug game. Jackson began selling narcotics at the age of 12 and sold crack during school.

While attending Andrew Jackson Highschool in the tenth grade, he was arrested for bringing drugs and guns into the building.

Three years later, he was arrested for selling vials of cocaine to an undercover police officer. Authorities would search his home and find heroin, ten ounces of crack, and a gun. Jackson was sentenced to three to nine years, but luckily only served six months of boot camp and earned his GED.

Upon release, Jackson was still involved in drug dealing but would begin rapping in his friend’s basement using turntables to record. This is where his journey as one of the biggest rappers in the industry started.

Music

Jackson made his rapping debut on the song React with Onyx, a hardcore Hip-Hop group out of Queens. He impressed record labels and earned a deal with Columbia Records.

He released the single How To Rob, where he rapped about robbing various famous rappers. Jackson wrote the controversial song, hoping to gain attention and separate himself from rappers on the label.

His plan worked, and rappers such as Jay-Z, Big Pun, DMX, and others responded to the song.

Jackson was building momentum, but on May 24, 2000, he was shot nine times at close range. He was hit on the hand, arm, hip, legs, chest, and left cheek and was lucky to be alive.

After surviving, Jackson had a new perspective and felt he had a purpose in life.

Columbia Records and Jackson didn’t see eye to eye and they dropped him from the label. However, he released Guess Who’s Back and the project caught the attention of Eminem. Eminem invited Jackson to LA, where he would meet Dr.Dre and sign a record deal.

In 2003, Jackson released his debut album Get Rich or Die Trying, and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold over 70,000 copies in the first week. The album’s success put Jackson in a whole new stratosphere of popularity and fame.

He quickly became one of the biggest rappers in the game and would release four more albums, The Massacre, Curtis, Before I Self Destruct, and Animal Ambition.

Jackson went from a drug dealer to a rap phenomenon and was easily one of the best artists throughout the early 2000s.

Business Ventures

Following the success of Get Rich or Die Trying, he established his record label G unit Records. He signed Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, and The Game under the label.

Jackson successfully branded the label and signed a deal with Reebok to distribute a G-Unit sneaker and clothing line.

Jackson was a familiar face and fan favorite, making him a target for various companies. In 2004 he became a spokesperson for Glaceau Smartwater and received company shares.

He joined Right Guard to introduce a body spray and endorsed Magic Stick Condoms. He also signed a multi-year deal with Steiner Sports to sell his memorabilia. People could not get enough of him, and he used it to his full advantage.

Jackson created G-unit Films and Television Inc, and the company has joint ventures with Will Packer Productions and Universal Television.

He has sold a plethora of projects to different networks, the biggest being STARZ TV drama Power. This show has become beloved and one of the most popular television shows on the network.

On top of his success as an artist, he has become a business mogul. Jackson has investments and involvement in the liquor, video games, mobile apps, book publishing, and headphones industries.
